The Team
Getting the marketing material you need is important, but it often gets pushed down the priority list – especially if you don’t know what to expect or don’t have the capacity to work out the details and make good progress.
But the HOWIE team makes it all easy. First you’ll meet with our Managing Director, Tareq Branney, to unpack your vision and goals, and come up with a plan. Then, alongside our in-house team, Gabbie and Liam, we’ll take care of you and your project.
Since 2012, HOWIE has delivered hundreds of successful campaigns, and enjoy many positive relationships with our customers. We love making the process of creating new marketing content successful for everyone we work with, by providing a flexible and purpose-driven service.
Liam Banks – Animator & Video Editor
Hello! I’m Liam, and I’m an Animator & Editor at HOWIE.
I’ve spent a lot of my life moving up and down the country but finally landed in Wellington around 5 years ago. I came to study Creative Media Production at Massey University, and really like the community here.
I enjoy working with people to achieve their purpose, and I love basketball so I’m always ready to debate over the greatest player of all time… (Lebron James) 
I’ve really liked helping businesses and not-for-profit organisations since joining HOWIE, and I’m looking forward to doing more with our customers!

Gabbie Matheson – Video & Photo Editor
Kia ora! I’m Gabbie, a Video & Photo Editor here at HOWIE.
I have called Wellington home my entire life, except for a few early years living in the UK (just long enough for the accent to stick!) After growing up on the Kapiti Coast I made the move into the city to study at CoCa Massey University before joining HOWIE in 2022.
Come over to our studio to say hey, I’m always waiting with a warm smile and a wave! You’ll either catch me hard at work, snacking on some fruit, or reheating my cup of tea for the fourth time that day
I have absolutely loved showcasing our community of businesses and organisations since being at HOWIE, and am excited to meet many more of you very soon!

Tareq Branney – Managing Director
Hey I’m Tareq, Managing Director at HOWIE.
I started HOWIE in 2011 while also working as a Communications Advisor. Running around with a camera taught me technical and practical skills, while working in comms taught me about strategy and purpose.
I went full-time in HOWIE in 2016, and since then it’s been a personal privilege to get to know so many awesome people as well as support their businesses and organisations to achieve their goals. It’s also really exciting to now be working with a team that believes in what we’re doing and is driving us towards our company’s Vision.
Outside of work I’m enjoying life with my young family, or playing around with my collection of broken French cars!
